The Kitti's Hog-nosed Bat (Craseonycteris thonglongyai) is widely recognized as the world's smallest bat, thourh there are other species nearly as small. It lives in caves in a small area of western Thailand and adjacent Myanmar where it formsl colonies of (normally less than 100 individuals. It emerges early to feed on small insects around trees. It's most used common name comes from it's pig-like nose. This image illustrates it's small size relative to an average human thumb. Portraits
