The Kitti's Hog-nosed Bat (Craseonycteris thonglongyai) is widely recognized as the world's smallest bat, thourh there are other species nearly as small. It lives in caves in a small area of western Thailand and adjacent Myanmar where it forms small colonies (normally less than 100 individuals. It emerges early to feed on small insects around trees.
