This Thomas's fruit-eating bat (Artibeus (Dermanura) watsoni) a small fruit-eating bat that also pollinates flowers, most notably those of the coligallo palm (Calypterogne ghiesbieghtiana). It is widely distributed in tropical forests from southern Mexico through northern South America. It is an obligate "tent" maker, cutting the midribs of large leaves, including those of young palms, Heliconia, banana and a variety of other plants to form shelters where small groups roost.
