Chapin's free-tailed bat (Chaerephon chapini)
An adult male Chapin's free-tailed bat (Chaerephon chapini) with its crest spread in Zimbabwe. This view is from directly above. The crest is presumed to be used during courtship, but this species remains virtually unknown beyond having been taxonomically described. When not in use the crest is hidden beneath body fur.
